I have high hopes for the Washington Wizards under the stewardship of new owner Ted Leonsis. The Wizards team President Ernie Grunfeld is making the right sounds too. He said among the team's top priorities in this draft was to add toughness. He is putting the team in position to fill its roster with the toughness the team needs. Kudos to Leonsis and Grunfeld.
The big buzz is John Wall, the first number one overall pick from Kentucky going to the Wizards. See the video. Hopeful about Wall.
The Wizards was able to get first pick at the NBA draft because of last season's dismal play. The Wizards have been dragging on the court for too many past seasons. The hope is that the new owner will provide the juice to man the team with good players. The NBA draft is just one source. Building a team on the draft means depending on rookies, and it will take time to develop rookies into a team, and into NBA winners. That maybe will be fine in the long run. It will means that the fans will have to wait for a championship team to develop, that is something loyal Washington basketball fans have been doing for a long time. Go Wizards!
