Wins have been hard for the Wizards to come by this season, but especially difficult in games played away from home. In Detroit on Sunday, they were able to get just their second away win of the season by defeating the Pistons 98-77. The win improves their overall record to 6-22 this season. The team has had significant issues this season and finds themselves in the bottom 5 as far as win percentage is concerned in the NBA.
The Wizards had two scorers that got 22 points in the contest. John Wall had 15 assists in the game, which led all while Javale McGee recorded 11 rebounds to lead all players as well. Prior to the game the Pistons had a win streak going, but the Wizards were able to break that streak due to a huge 22-2 run they put up against Detroit. The game was all tied up at halftime, but in the second half Washington outscored Detroit 53-32.
Greg Monroe led Detroit in the game. Monroe had 27 huge points most of which were scored ion the first half and kept the team close. Offensively, the team struggled scoring under 20 points in each quarter besides the second. Here, the team recorded 27 points to keep things honest going into the second half. They were unable to play good basketball in the second half, however, and dropped to 8-21 overall on the season. They also reduced their home record to just 6-9 this season.
Needless to say, the game involved 2 poor teams battling for any sort of bragging rights.
