The Washington Wizards hosted a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday at the Verizon Center in D.C. and were able to get a win against the team with one of the best records in basketball. The win broke a 7 game Thunder winning streak and brought the Wizards just their 2nd win on the season. The win came despite a home crowd that was anything but happy right from the beginning of the contest.
When the Wizards took the floor Boos could be heard from the hometown crowd before the game had even tipped off. The boos were in response to one of their own players taking the floor. Blatche had been missing games lately due to injury and has been out of the starting line-up due to problems with his performance. Therefore when he took the floor, the crowd was quick to boo and keep the boos strong well into the game.
Those boos eventually turned too cheers which could be no louder once the game concluded in a 105-102 victory for the hometown Wizards. The Wizards got a lot of scoring from their team including a high of 25 from Wall. Young added 24 and, despite the boos, Blatche ended the game with a double-double scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds.
The Thunders record dropped to 12-3 on the season, but they had strong performances by their stars. The tandem of Kevin Durant and Westbrook scored 69 points in the game. Durant also added 8 rebounds while Westbrook had 7 assist. On this day, however, David played better than Goliath.
