The Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida Friday. The win came with the final of 91-83 in favor of the Celtics who desperately needed a win against a good competitor to show people they can still play with the big boys. Boston has struggled to capture the luster the team’s veterans have played with in previous championship and playoff seasons. Their record now stands at 8-9 following the victory away from home.
The Celtics were led by Paul Pierce who has been playing much more like his old self in games lately. He had 24 points in the contest. He also ended up with a double-double by having 10 assists in the contest. Boston made a huge comeback in the game to get the victory after things looked worse then ever for the club. The team started down by 16 points after the first quarter and 21 at half. They then went on to outscore the Magic 54-25 in the second half to secure the win. They also only gave up 8 points to the Magic in the fourth quarter.
Orlando was led by Dwight Howard who continues to lead the team to try and make a run deep into the playoffs. Although they suffered a loss, the Magic are still 12-6 on the season. They suffered just their 3rd loss at home compared to 6 wins at the Amway Center. Howard also added 16 rebounds to secure a double-double on the night. The team came out abysmal in the 2nd half and, in doing so, cost themselves the win.
